Generally, the vast open grasslands of Botswana are regarded as hot dry areas, But in some years the rains arrive in abundance and make dramatic changes to the whole system, resulting in water everywhere. Grasslands become huge lakebeds. Of course, this attracts a whole range of birds. Ducks, waders and other aquatic species in abundance.

Narrated by Richard Randell we leave the open grasslands of central Botswana and visit the dry and sometimes rain filled pans such as Mwako and Tali pans, then onto Lake Ngami and finally into the huge and vast Makgadikgadi salt pans.
